Jelenleg (a bizonyos statisztikák szerint) a világ harmadik legszegényebb országa több százezer menekültnek biztosít új otthont…

A Csádba menekülő gyerekek, nők és férfiak szülőföldjén is nagy a szegénység, ám lőnek is. Sokat, sokszor, s nem a levegőbe…

This media visit aims to raise awareness about the humanitarian consequences of the crisis in Central African Republic and its spill over into neighbouring countries such as Chad. It also aims to inform EU citizens about humanitarian aid projects funded with their taxes by the budget of the European Commission. These projects contribute to assist Central Africans who have fled violence and taken refuge in Southern Chad.

The European Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) has been supporting Darfur refugees since their arrival and is one of the few donors still doing so. After a decade of sustained emergency assistance, a prolonged crisis of this type requires a longer term approach that focuses on making refugees more autonomous and self-reliant.

The overall focus of the trip was the European Humanitarian Aid response supporting Sudan refugees in the Eastern part of Chad. More than ten years after the Darfur conflict, Chad still hosts close to 300 000 refugees and the security situation across the border does has not yet allowed for their return.

Szombaton hajnalban indulok, s München, Frankfurt, illetve Casablanca érintésével vasárnap este érkezem meg N’Djamenába, Csád fővárosába.  Innen aztán a déli városokba utazunk a többi hét európai újságíró kollégával és a szervezőkkel: többek között Gore és Moïssala lesz a célállomásunk.
