I’m perfectly aware that you, Sir, might never read these lines, you’re a busy man. And I’m a nobody from right next to the middle of nowhere. Still, I give it a try. 🙂 I’m writing to you as a WizzAir customer, a blogger and an amateur plane spotter.

You might be aware what a profound effect the company you run, WizzAir had on the lives of millions of Europeans throughout the years the company’s aircrafts fly over the skies of the continent – and now even beyond. WizzAir gave the opportunity for ordinary people like me to fly, discover gorgeous people and places that I didn’t know existed. Well, inevitably, I heard and read about some of the cities, but for decades they simply seemed unreachable for an ordinary person from the outskirts of Cluj-Napoca/Kolozsvár/Klausenburg in the region of Transylvania, Romania, raised by hard-working parents during the extreme hardships of Communism – I was born in 1975. We all thought that flying is the privilege for the higher echelons of society, the elite.

Nowadays, thanks to WizzAir, even people like me who earn between 250-300 euros a month are also able to fly. Recently we flew to Bari (27 euros for the return ticket!) and met groups of young people who were on an airplane for the first time in their lives. You should have seen the satisfaction, the joy and the happiness in their eyes! Two were from Târgu-Mureş/Marosvásárhely/Neumarkt: first time abroad and aboard! I think they’ll always remember WizzAir…

I strongly think that WizzAir’s positive public perception is also largely due to WizzAir’s Corporate Communications Manager, Daniel de Carvalho, who’s nice and friendly personality, but also his professionalism eases the work of journalists and attracts the busy bees of the social media to write about the company.

Throughout the years I managed to travel to 44 counties – around to one third of these thanks to WizzAir. On a European level Cluj-Napoca/Kolozsvár/Klausenburg is a somewhat of a village, almost nobody heard about us – I asked several people in several countries. Also thanks to Wizz we’re now on the map, connected to Europe. We don’t feel so isolated any more. I use Wizz regularly – I even flew to Tel-Aviv and Dubai. An unheard-of-thing a few years ago…

Traveling expends one’s intellectual and spiritual horizon – thus flying is not just a technical wonder. WizzAir also helps couples living far from each other maintain their relationships, people to study abroad and come home (very) often. Hopping on a WizzAir flight is almost as easy as taking a taxi… 🙂 Of course, we didn’t resist the temptation: when Wizz recently offered one ticket for free for each one bought, we made a reservation to Kutaisi, Georgia… 🙂 And subscribed to the Wizz discount club once we were at it… 🙂

Of course, there were several problems the company faced throughout the years: delays, cancellations, small accidents, luggage allowance issues – inherent for any airline. They still happen – just like anywhere else.

WizzAir also dramatically enhanced the activity of our Hungarian Plane Spotting Club of Cluj-Napoca/Kolozsvár/Klausenburg. Basically, it created the organization… 🙂 Thanks to Tibor Weghofer-Vad WizzAir captain who introduced us to many of his colleagues and, of course, all the WizzAir CLJ base captains (Jason Cotton, Alexander Hecht and now Gergely Kovács) we managed to organize 6 plane spotting days, which included dinner with the captains and first officers, as well as visits to a stationary aircraft and also plane spotting with some pilots. What a unique experience for everyone!

I don’t know what your business plan is and how long can WizzAir offer tickets for such a low price, but I hope it goes one for many more years. If not, we’ll stay put just as in the early ‘90s… 🙂 😦
